A Frustrating Piece of Junk

I ordered this fan because it matched a chandelier I recently purchased from the same company, which was of reasonable quality. I opened the box to discover the fan body wasn't even put together properly, and half the screws used to attach the blades to the fan were rolling loose inside the box. After I took the fan apart and assembled it properly, I next discovered I could could not put a longer down rod on the fan because the rod coller was too small. Since the coller didn't match the picture on the box, I called the company and told them I needed the proper coller. Two days later they called back and told me I had the only coller they make and to send the fan back to Amazon.Since I didn't want to send it back, I decided to put it in another location and use the 4" down rod that came with the fan. I guess it was a good decision since the wires weren't long enough to use a 12" rod anyway, and the light kit was smaller than it appeared in the picture. Installation went well until I tried to attach the light kit. The screws were so small, and the locations so inaccessable that it took two people to attach the kit; one to hold it in place and one to put in the screws.In 40 years of installing ceiling fans, this one was the worst. Next time I need a fan, I will go back to Lowe's or Home Depot. You get what you pay for. However, I gave the fan one star because it does work.

you call this light?

Though manufacturers product description specified 3 60 watt bulbs for fan light, in fact, it only allows for 2 40 watt candelabra bulbs. By the time WE put this together (the directions are useless) and realized that amazon's description was flat out wrong, it was too late to return, per manufacturer, who took no responsiblility at all. This DARKLY lit ceiling fan single-handedly turned our newly renovated kitchen into a cave. Since I also got the matching ceiling light fixture, which DOES have 3 60 watt bulbs, I now have to try to find and buy a new complimentary ceiling fan or replace both items. Unless you're looking for "gloomy", stay away from this "lighted" ceiling fan.

ceiling fan a breeze to install

Our old fan was about to fall from the ceiling so we knew we had to replace it. I dreaded the thought of dealing with the wiring and mounting hardware.To my delight the wiring was very easy, everything was color coded so you could not make a mistake. The new style of mounting harware made it easy. just screw the bracket to the junction box. Attach the connector rod to the fan, it screws in like a threaded pipe and then is secured with three set screws. Finally lift the fan up and slide the rod into the bracket. (Get someone to help you lift and hold it while you do the wire splicing.)The blades needed to be attached, this was straight forward using the screws provided. No way to get this wrong. The kit comes with a balancing mechanism, but I did not need it.So I would recommend this fan to anyone who wants to save on air conditioning costs by the added circulation.

Good aesthetics but bad quality

I ordered the fan for it's aesthetics, which didn't disappoint. The globe is double coated (inside and out), which led to very dim lighting but I took a scrub pad and sanded the outer decorative coating off and that did the trick. You get much more light and can still still the decorative coating on the inside. The major problem here was the quality of the shipping and some of the product itself. One of the fan blades was chipped (somewhat badly) and one of the electrical connectors inside the fan was damaged and wouldn't connect. If returns weren't such a pain in the butt anymore, I would have definitely had this thing back in the box and on it's way. I chose instead to try to match paint and fill the chip on the damaged blade and was able to cut and repair the plastic wire connector in the fan. Installation would have been easy if it weren't for the damaged parts. The fan does have a metal wire and hook that you can use to hang the motor unit from the ceiling unit while connecting wires and installing, which was a small thing that made installation much easier than normal. I give this product 2 Stars for aesthetics but the overall hassle and product quality (at least on the item that I received) bring it down considerably.One thing of note is that within several days after ordering this product (from a third party through Amazon) I had several fraudulent charges on the card I used to purchase the item. I did not have a direct connection to this purchase and the fraudulent charges, but this was the last purchase I made with that card and the timing seemed somewhat suspicious.
