Good fan with some issues

The fan operates well and does the job. Looks great.The fan was a bit difficult to put together and mount compared to other fans we have. Getting the light fixture mounted with all the wires was awkward. Mounting the blades was a lot of screws and a bit awkward to hold up and screw in (particularly compared to the Hunter and Hampton Bay quick mount blades).There is no flush mount so I looked at the online installation instructions to see how closely we could mount it to the ceiling.We thought we could use the shorter (2") downrod to get it closer to our 8' ceiling, but when you use that shorter downrod, the flange cover (the lower cover that hides the bolts and connection just above the fan) cannot be used. The instructions do not mention that, but once you have the materials, it is clear that there is no way to get the flange cover mounted *and* get the downrod connected into the upper canopy.The downrod should have been 2-3/4" or the flange cover mounting designed differently. The result is that we had to use the 6" pipe and the fan is 4" lower that I would have liked. The bottom of the light is about 6'4" from the floor instead of the 6'8" we thought we would have, which is still 4" below the ideal of 7' from the floor to the bottom of the light that we got with a flush mount Hampton Bay from Home Depot.The fan is quiet and looks nice, but for our short ceiling, the long downrod makes it look a bit strange.If you have a higher ceiling and don't mind a little extra installation effort, the fan is great.If you have an 8' ceiling, I would NOT recommend this fan until they modify the downrod/flange cover so that you can use a much shorter downrod.
