By Just Do It G
I just installed this ceiling fan in my master bedroom. The fan is beautiful, well made and gives off an interesting light pattern throughout the room. With that being said there are a few things you should know. The fan is definitely more black than bronze as stated by another reviewer. It also uses a transmitter to connect the wires in the ceiling. Finding room to hide the transmitter within the ceiling box is more than challenging. Also, do yourself a favor and connect the blades before attempting to hang the motor from the ceiling. This will save you some time and a visit to the chiropractor.

The fan is controlled ONLY by a remote controller. I installed two fans in one large room, and I expected to operate them both from one controller. This is either NOT an option, or instructions on how to make that work are not provided. For some reason, one of the fans requires that you stand immediately under it, pointing the remote within about three feet of the device in order to control it. The other unit has a reasonable range, and can be controlled from say ten feet away (I have no idea the maximum distance). Perhaps the two fans are just too far apart to receive the signal so that both will work from one controller. The product description says that the lighting has a full range dimmer. I have not had any success dimming either unit. I can hold the light button as long as I like, the lights flash, and absolutely no dimming. Clicking that button gives me just on and off. The dimming feature WAS one of the primary reasons that I chose these fixtures. My fans were installed by a crew of three very capable finish carpenters on the last day of a construction project. I gave them the advice from other product ratings about the remote set-up. It took them several hours to install these (not a reasonable puzzle for a homeowner). There are no instructions for how to make the ONLY controller (the remote) work. The receiver for the remote is about the size of a pack of cigarettes, and fits (barely) under the ceiling cap. Using a shallow lighting box as we did, there is no space for the wires. Normally I would contact the manufacturer and ask how to make the light dimming work, but I already know that I would not be able to get the controller back into the fixture if I remove it to make some change. I will at some point just buy very low wattage light bulbs for the dim light that I wanted. The finish should be called "black". There is nothing "bronze" about it. So... the product description is awful, but still, I dislike the look of ceiling fans and these are absolutely gorgeous. They move a large amount of air. They are quiet. Every person who has seen the room (I can count at least 14 people) compliments the light fixtures, and most folks are calling them "chandeliers" rather than calling them ceiling fans. That is exactly the effect that I wanted.
