4Great fan with a flawed remote
By J. Deardorff
I got this fan for a great price, and I like it a lot. It's well made fan, super quiet, moves a lot of air, and it looks nice. I can understand SOME of the complaints, but let's not get carried away here. If you don't feel comfortable doing some basic wiring and matching wires based on colors, then you shouldn't be trying to install it yourself. Secondly, the included twist cap wire connectors aren't the best, so I would secure them with some electrical tape after you install them. I had a wire or two sneak out the first time, and the tape did the trick. Finally, I would recommend that if using it for the sole light source in a room, you install it without the remote. Here's why:If you leave the light on and turn off using the wall switch (instead of the remote), when you flip the wall switch back on, the light will not be on.i.e. if the remote is installed, it can only really be used with the remote. Flipping the wall switch drops all "memory" of what state the fan/light was in before it was switched off and so you start from the light off/fan off every time.If that's not what you want, just install it without the remote module (simplifies wiring greatly this way) and you'll have a great fan that you use with the pull cords just like normal.I don't know why so many people are complaining. The instructions for wiring with or without the remote were fine, and it clearly states the caveats of installing with the remote. For a living room type area, the remote feature is great, for a bedroom or something where you want to blindly grope for a switch and get light, leave the remote out.

1Don't buy this!!
By mlc
Installed this fan 2 months ago. I have installed several Hunter fans over the years and I cannot believe the quality of products they are putting out now! Hunter used to be one of the best fans you could get...No more. Installed according to the poorly written instructions. You never know when the remote is going to work, it seems to have a mind of its own. Now after 2 months it won't work at all. Don't bother going to Hunter's web site to troubleshoot, it is no help at all. I guess I'll have to wire around the remote and try that. I'm through with Hunter!

4Good Fan All Around
By Sir Dr. Pepper, Esq.
I was looking over some of these reviews on Amazon and though to myself, was I reading a different instruction manual? I didn't have any problem reading the manual or installing the fan. I had to make it work a little with where it was going, but no big deal. Wiring it was pretty simple, it may look intimidating but all you need to do is just match the colors, white is neutral and black is hot, basics. Since this fan has a wireless remote you need to wire the controller box, which is probably where people get a little confused, but take 5 mins, read the manual which is more detailed and not the 'quick start guide', and it's really not that bad. Everything was clearly labeled as to where it should go.I picked up two of these fans at Costco and put them in my living room which has a pretty tall ceiling. They're really, really quiet and move quite a bit of air together. The fan looks great and the lighting unit really brightens up the room. The only pain has been trying to find replacement bulbs (some kind of two pin connector). The standard 60 watt equivalents that come with it are a little too bright in my living room. The remote has kind of a funky design but you get used to it, and I wouldn't let me stop me from buying this fan.
