Nice looking but noisy

We bought this fan for my son's bedroom, needing a flush mount for an 8' ceiling.After installing it and admiring how nice it looked, we turned it on high and soon realized that the motor was making a very audible whine. We let it run for 2-3 hrs. thinking that perhaps this noise would lessen, but to our dismay, it remained. We realized that this fan was not defective, only that it was not a 'whisper quiet' model. That night, my son awoke in the middle of the night, unable to sleep because of the fan noise. Don't buy this fan if you are the type of person annoyed by the din of low level machine noise. If you are deaf or have hearing loss, then this fan is for you!
