Good buy

Overall good buy for the price on such good looking fan, plus fan comes with light kit which normally cost around $150. I would give it 5 stars if comes with down rod. If you need down rod, just go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy those regular matte black down rod. It will match; no need to spend $30-50 on Casablanca matching down rod. If you ever install ceiling fan, this should not be a problem for you to install. However this one does take me a bit longer to screw in all the fan blades onto fan motor.

I purchased this product and it took a few weeks to get around to installing it. It was pretty time consuming to put it all together, but all the parts were there. Amazon retailer Value Bros. had it on sale for $179.99, which was an exceptional price. They were prompt and it was here in less than a week. I needed to also purchase the extension, and they are pretty expensive in relative comparison to what I paid for the entire unit, including the lighting option. So I had to shop around for that and wait for it to arrive. There were a few things I didn't particularly like. The fan blades are somewhat cheesy looking. I thought they would be wood and I'm still not sure if they are wood or a laminate. They were pretty hard to attach to the unit also. The unit itself is not cast iron, as it appears in the pics. But it is clearly a high quality unit and is very quiet. There is no remote control, which seemed strange. There also does not appear to be a dimmer for the light, but Casablanca customer service said there is so I probably just haven't been able to figure it out yet. And speaking of customer service, I just called them up and was connected with someone in customer service that knew what they were talking about immediately. That was a pleasant surprise. I confirmed that I cannot purchase a remote control either. I assume these limitations factored into it being so inexpensive. I haven't experimented with its capabilities to be turned off and on automatically, but I suspect it also works. Again, it's certainly a high quality unit. When you turn the fan off on the 6th speed it takes a couple of minutes for the blades to stop moving given their weight and that of the internal components. All considered, it was certainly worth the money, looks great, and will likely be operating where installed for the next 50 years.
