Ceiling fan

This is absolutely a beautiful fan. We purchased this fan two years ago for our beach house and recently bought the same one for our current home. It is whisper quiet. I particularly liked the choice of the two different wood colors on the blades. I found this fan to be much cheaper on the Amazon website.

Vernazza Indoor Fan

Overall a very good fan if its what your looking for. We like the style and the look. Other than normal wind noise, its a quiet fan at all speeds. I've installed some cheaper Hunter fans and had annoying electrical motor hum, but not this one. Note that the fan blades achieve the aged/weathered look by putting tiny holes in the blades and what looks sort of like dents in the edges, fairly subtle from the ground. Also, a bit hard to see in the pic, but the edges are faded black, or at least a darker brown than the center of the blades. Overall, we liked the appearance. The light output is mediocre, not a lot of light as a sole light source unless a small room, but our room has many other cannister lights as primary lighting. I've installed maybe 6-8 different kinds of Hunter fans in the last several years and find that their wood screws (for the main mount into the ceiling beams)are GARBAGE. They seem to use the same screws for the low end fans as in fans around $2-300 that Ive done. The soft metal heads are VERY prone to getting stripped (even with a pilot hole drilled), so I strongly recommend spending a buck (or less) and getting a couple replacements from your local hardware store which I have never had a problem with. Would buy again and recommend it. Would give 5 stars if the screws were good.

Looks beautiful! Excellent fan, looks like you paid twice the price. It's quiet, works in either direction for winter or summer use and over gives my cabin a very rustic look.

Don't be mislead!

The picture for this product indicates that this fan comes with a light kit, but having received and open the fans, that is most definitely NOT the case. I guess I should have read the description more closely which states that the fan is "light kit adaptable", a sneaky way of saying it doesn't come with lights even if the picture of our product strongly implies that it does.I haven't installed the fan yet and am sure that when I do it will work just fine, but for now I'm very disappointed that I have to go out and spend another $30 or so to get a light kit for this fan.If you're looking for a fan without lights then I'm sure this makes a fine choice, but don't be mislead into thinking this fan will also light your room--it won't!

Great fan, tricky install

Amazon shipped this item me very quickly and I installed it just today. Installation with this fan was trickier than others I had installed. There were too many screws, literally...I had screws left over and I followed the instructions precisely. The install took about 2 hours.The fan is very quiet, and the light is sufficient. I wish the light could dim, but I knew it couldn't going into it. I'd check the Hunter website and make sure the blades co-ordinate with your existing decor...the website shows the true colors more accurately than Amazon's pictures.

Not recommended!

Let me preface this with two items. First, I remodel homes as a hobby and have installed many fans in the past. Second, I have used Hunter products in several previous projects and been happy with them. I don't know what has happened at Hunter, but everything about their products have gone downhill. The instructions are horrible. One example, the drawing of many of the screws do not match what comes with the fan. It almost seems like the assembly instructions were done in another country. On the subject of parts - some were missing. The overall assembly design is also terrible. Finally, the quality of the fan is poor. The remote control is made of crappy plastics and is intermittent. I am so put off by this fan that I gave it away and will never buy another Hunter product.I absolutely LOVE Amazon and will continue to use them, but I would not recommend buying this type of item from them. Why? Because by the time you realize what a piece of crap this item is you have all 20+ parts unpacked and partially assembled. It is too much of a hassle to get everything back in the box and deal with the hassle of shipping it back. Buy this type of product at Home Depot or Lowes.

Many problems with coming on by itself - junk

I just want to update my review - this fan wasn't working at first, it would come on several times a day by itself, either the light or the fan itself. Hunter sent me out a new part, but that didn't fix it. I called again, and they sent out another part - now the fan is working great now. It's been two full weeks and hasn't come on by itself, so I think it's fixed! The customer service was excellent.I like the more "modern" look of this fan.I've raised my "stars" rating to 4 since it is working now. It's not a 5 because of the initial problem, and one other design issue I don't like. The way the glass is installed over the light, it's very difficult to take off, as the metal ring with three screws in it holds the glass and needs to be removed, but you need to hold the glass at the same time. It's almost a two person job (on ladders!) to remove this, or you risk dropping the glass. Of course with a fluorescent light - I won't need to remove this very often to replace the bulb. Most lights you hold the glass, and remove screws with your fingers. This you need to hold the glass, and a screwdriver at the same time.One other thing to be aware of, the fluorescent bulb is one of those rings types, and is quite bright. No dimming available. It doesn't use much power which is good, just be aware it's bright.12/24/2012 UPDATE: Sadly, this fan drives me crazy. I can no longer use the remote, as it will come on by itself, both the light and the fan. So when I'm not in the room, I have to turn off the fan by the switch on the wall, so it won't blow all the papers off my desk in the middle of the night. I spent a lot for the fan, and Hunter tried making it right, but since the problem is with ALL their fans, not just a defective one they sent me, I still have problems. This second fan (and third remote control piece) is a little better and doesn't come on by itself as often. But if it comes on by itself at all - it's just junk.Overall though, I'm happy with the fan now.

I ordered 3 of these fans based on appearance and price. I was not not disappointed. The delivery was fast, the fan was packaged well, and the installation instructions was easy to follow. The fans works well and deliver excellent cooling and quiet circulation. I did not give the product 5 stars because the holes on the uppermost part attached to the ceiling do not line up correctly.

the CFM rating on this Monte Carlo 5HM52WH is incorrect. i ordered thinking it would be 6182 CFM as claimed but it was delivered with only 5192 CFM. i had to pay return shipping myself and luckily i did receive credit. i also informed Amazon about the misinformation but Amazon does not seem interested in correcting any information on this equipment. buyer beware!
