Westinghouse 78603 Petite 6-Blade 30-Inch 3-Speed Hugger-Style Ceiling Fan with Light, Antique Brass
Product Description
Enjoy the dual benefits of warm lighting and convenient climate control with Westinghouse's 78603 Petite hugger-style ceiling fan. Stylishly compact, the 30-inch low-profile ceiling fan mounts snugly to accommodate low ceilings and smaller size rooms (up to 80 square feet) such as bedrooms, kitchens, three-season porches, media rooms, and other cozy spaces. Its six-blade design features a whisper-quiet, high-performance 153-mm-by-9-mm motor, with a three-speed reversible switch that allows for customizing air movement--run the fan counterclockwise in the summer to create cooling airflow, and clockwise in the winter to re-circulate warm air that's risen towards the ceiling. Even more, the ceiling fan features a single light fixture that operates on one candelabra-base, globe-style, 60-watt bulb (not included) and that comes surrounded by light-diffusing opal mushroom glass that casts a rich, welcoming glow. A 12-inch lead wire, light kit, matching pull chain, and installation hardware are included, and the unit can be adapted for use with a dimmer switch (sold separately). Available in two color options: white with reversible white/whitewashed pine blades or antique brass with reversible walnut/oak blades, the ceiling fan measures 30 inches in diameter by 12 inches high and carries a lifetime motor warranty and a two-year parts warranty.

By Jason Marini
This fan works great! I installed it last night. It spins very quickly on its highest setting, and it moves a lot of air for its size. The bulb socket is a miniature Edison base rated at 65W, so it may be a bit dim for larger rooms.I hooked this fan up to a fan/light control switch on the wall, so I wanted to remove the pullchains. To do so, perform the following BEFORE MOUNTING THE FAN and AT YOUR OWN RISK:* Remove the three screws that hold the light socket over the housing, and pull open the cover.* There are a bunch of wires and wire nuts that attach the fan speed pullchain, fan direction switch, and light pullchain together.* Unscrew the fan speed pullchain switch and the light pullchain switch. Yank all the wires out of both switches.* The black and blue wires go straight through the fan to the other side - they're coming directly from the source.* To bypass the light pullchain, connect the blue wire to the black wire of the light socket.* To bypass the fan pullchain, you'll need to fix the fan at the highest speed. Connect the purple (speed 1), yellow (speed 2), and orange (power) wires to the black wire (the source wire, not the light socket wire).* Keep the red wire connected (that's the speed signal).* Make sure to use wirenuts on all exposed connections!* To tidy up the modification, I'd suggest yanking the pullchains out of the pullchain switches (tug hard!), then re-inserting the switches in the housing just to provide a clean (albeit pullchain-less) look to the outside.* Re-attach the housing cover, making sure the indentation in the cover fits over the fan direction switch.* When mounting, remember that the blue wire is for the light and the black wire is for the fan.Notes from installation:* When installing, do not attach the fan blades until AFTER you mount the motor to the ceiling. The canopy will not fit over the top - it must be installed from below, after you've finished your wiring.* The fan provides separate light/fan power wires. If you're using the pullchains, connect BOTH blue (light) and black (fan) wires to the HOT supply.

By JRL
If you are purchasing this just based on the size and appearance, the fan is great. I think the thing is noisy and has a constant low level hum. I have 4 other Hunter fans in my home and all are extremely quiet - Unfortunately, this was the only one I could find in this small size so I was limited to Westinghouse. It went into my daughter's room and she says that I am the only one to notice the hum so I guess it's OK for 50 bucks.

By Star Struck
I am surprised by the noisy comment. I installed this fan in my daughters bedroom and I hardly notice it's on. It has worked out quite well and the instructions were great.
